The Blues head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed on the final weekday that Cole Palmer is ready to play for the team's important top-flight encounter against local rivals Arsenal.

The 23-year-old England international was unavailable due to a fractured toe sustained after an unfortunate occurrence.

“He is fit to begin and feature,” Maresca said. “The whole team is delighted.”

In the current campaign, Palmer has made only four appearances in every contest, netting two goals.

After joining from City in the previous year, he has notched 45 goals and 29 assists in 101 appearances for Chelsea.

The Merseyside club have failed in their protest against Idrissa Gueye's red card for a fight with fellow player Michael Keane during the squad's narrow win at Old Trafford.

The veteran Senegal player was shown a red card just early on into the contest after slapping Keane during a disagreement over a poor pass.

Gueye promptly expressed regret, and the pair were seen reconciled afterwards in a mock social media video.

However, the appeal against the dismissal was denied, and Gueye must complete a three-game suspension, leaving Everton shorthanded for their upcoming match against Newcastle United.

“We challenged the decision and it was rejected,” coach David Moyes said. “We haven’t been given any reason why it was turned down but we did appeal it.”

When asked about additional consequences from the event, Moyes remarked: “The matter was resolved instantly, it was done, that was it, we progressed rapidly and it was all sorted within the team environment.”

Nottingham Forest's boss Sean Dyche is optimistic that Morgan Gibbs-White will be ready for the team's at home fixture against Brighton on Sunday.
